TiG Christmas donations 2021 – Supporting the Waltham Forest Secret Santa appeal

This year’s chosen charity for Christmas donations helps those seeking refuge from domestic violence in London.

Domestic violence has surged during the pandemic, with the Guardian reporting that the police received a call related to abuse every 30 seconds during the first seven weeks of lockdown.

The Waltham Forest Secret Santa appeal aims to bring some measure of joy and comfort to those spending their Christmas holidays in one of London’s domestic abuse refuges by providing them with gifts.

Over 800 gift bags were handed out last year, and the charity aims to exceed that number in 2021. TiG will be supporting their efforts by donating gifts that can then be distributed via London’s domestic violence charities.

These charities have been under enormous strain during the pandemic, but they provide a much-needed avenue of escape for victims of domestic abuse.

TiG’s Head of People, Nikki Rees, said:

“Waltham Forest Secret Santas are a group of volunteers who organise collections for women’s refuges across the borough. As part of our Cultural Champion initiatives, we wanted to support a fantastic cause this Christmastime and couldn’t think of a better charity. We want the gifts going to these women and children to represent that there is hope and help bring a smile.”

Supporting local charities and causes is important to us here at TiG, and we’re extremely proud to help Waltham Forest Secret Santa give some hope to vulnerable families this Christmas.
